All great artists have been original and their art has come directly through their original energies. This class is not an ordinary situation because the way drawing is usually presented (in our culture) falls far short of what drawing really is. The fully expanded notion of drawing is about finding the language that represents one's most intimate experience. This class is conducted as a radical experiment in the pursuit of one's identity. It's about finding structures (marks, narratives, lines) for one's experience.

Class Structure
The Dynamic Drawing classes are held in spacious, well lit venues with ample parking. Large tables are available for participants to work on or you can bring your own easel or drawing board if you wish. A live model provides a resource or departure point for the development of drawing language. Ron Curran facilitates both on a one to one basis and addressing the class as a whole. Music adds another dimension to the class (live or recorded) and tea and coffee, cake and biscuits are available throughout.

The classes break down into a one hour session followed by a twenty minute coffee break followed by a three quarter hour session, and finally a half hour feed-back group review session. The review session is voluntary. The classes are open to whoever wants to come - there is no necessity to enrol. Anyone who wants to draw is welcome. There is no hierarchy on any level and Ron provides encouragement and positive support. Drawing paper and compressed charcoal are available. This class is not about doing pretty pictures or painting by numbers but if you want to discover something about who you are and how that recognition, that empowerment, can actually flow into other areas of your life, then stay awhile and you will be given every support in your search.

You can't borrow someone else's eyes; you've got to find your own reality/realities. No glue, spakfilla, miracle fixer or cosy book of rules can reveal or describe your primary self or return you to your core reality. This is why art is so sacred and powerful and why great art has been so revered thru the ages. It's about courage and integrity. This class is about self-referral and self-recognition; freedom of inquiry and the willingness to both sacrifice and have the courage to step into the unknown. It is not easy, but if you are serious about wanting to draw, this is the only way to go.
